Kenya
The Pokots live in the western highlands of Kenya but also can be found in Uganda. Cattle were central to the traditional Pokot economy, but, in recent years, they have started raising maize and tobacco on large commercial farms, with increased urban relocation for job opportunities. The Pokot have a reputation as fierce, skilled warriors who regularly raided neighboring Maasais, Luos, and Gusiis for cattle. Verbal art is very important among the Pokot. Proverbs are used with versatility both to teach and to make a point. At a gathering of elders, a person may use proverbs to show what a good speaker he is. They are also used to teach younger people the consequences of straying from the moral path. (Wikipedia)
